Mother’s Day
This morning I got up early and took Zaiden to the store where I picked up three boquets: one for each of the three mothers (Nikki, AJ, and their mother, Belinda). I didn’t know what kind of flowers AJ and Belinda like so I got them the “Mother’s Day Boquet” that was pre-made and I got Nikki a nice little boquet, too. Zaiden and I got Mother’s Day cards for all three of them and headed home. He and I signed them and set the cards next to the flowers. We timed it all quite well because nobody was awake until we had the cards set up next to the flowers. Score!
NOTE: The photo to the right is a link to the entire photo album for the week. I don’t have any photographs from today so one from yesterday will have to do.
After everyone was up and ready to roll, we all mosied on out for Mother’s Day Brunch at a little spot in Sedona. Breakfast was just great. After that, we went out to paint the town red — well, do some shopping, anyhow. We all kinda split up after a while and kept moseying around town.
Nikki and I asked all the jeep-rental or jeep-tour places if they have some good 4×4 maps and nobody had a clue! Are you kiddin’ me?
We finally found a guy who pointed us towards the Honanki and Palatki ruins. He told us to head south from town on the 89A and hang a right on the 525. Take that and head left on the 525C. Take the 525C up to the 9549, turn right, and that will join back to the 525. 9549 is the only 4×4 section of this whole drive but he said there are a couple of “wash outs” (?) that sounded fun. He cautioned me to “stay to the right” through them as the ones on the left are for Hummers (?). I guess we’ll see what he means when we get there.
We stopped at a little toy shop and got Zaiden a little gift for his birthday — more magnets. He loves playing with refrigerator magnets so Nikki had the brilliant idea (that was NOT sarcastic — it really is quite brilliant) to get things that would be more educational — letters, numbers, and the like. Very nice.
We kept walking and found a little spot to buy doggy treats. Since Moose was staying with his sister, Phoebe, we decided to get treats for the two of them. Very nice.
At this point, I was starting to get hungry (it was around 4:00). We had been listening to this guy performing cover songs and he sounded pretty good. Nikki and I mosied on over to a nice little pub near the doggy treat store (I forgot the name of both places! bummer!) where we sat on their patio eating some hot wings, drinking beer, and listening to this guy perform. I have no idea what Zaiden was doing. I’m hoping it wasn’t dangerous …
Just kidding. He was walking around as this was hi favorite thing to do because it was a bit of a new trick for him. After a while, Belinda joined us and Zaiden had a new buddy to go for walks with.
When we had enough of all this, we decided to mosey on back to the car (we did a lot of moseying, today). AJ called Belinda and sounded rather upset and said she would meet us back at the resort to give us “the scoop.” It turns out that she had been purchasing things around town and someone walked off with her things! That sucks! I didn’t hear the whole story and I didn’t want to ask her to tell it again because she was awfully “frazzled.” What a crappy way for her Mother’s Day to end. Total bummer!
