Four Wheelin’ in Fruita
We decided we’d stay in Fruita two nights because the hotel we booked was pretty nice. We had a big suite with a hot tub in our room. We didn’t want to stay there one night and not enjoy the room we booked. So, on Sunday we decided to do some four wheeling. The FJ was mostly unloaded so we went to the visitor center in Fruita. The suggested going out “18 Road” but I wanted to get something more specific. Our hotel room had a little pamphlet that mentioned they have maps in the Grand Junction visitor center so we tooled on down the road. Wouldn’t you know it? They were out of maps! The lady suggested we head over to a sporting goods store that has the maps. Guess what? The sporting goods store didn’t have any idea what I was asking for! They has some fancy schmancy little computer where you select what you want a map of and it’ll print out and be laminated and all that but they didn’t have anything that was specific to four wheeling!
We picked up a couple of things we needed for camping. In the parking lot, I needed to change Zaiden’s diaper and Nikki noticed there was a lifted bronco on a trailer so she mosied on over and asked the guy if there was anything nearby we could go do. He didn’t hesitate: 21 Road. He gave us directions and off we went. We just got to “the fun part” when we decided to stop for some lunch. Zaiden had been getting a little restless so we let him stretch his legs a bit after lunch. If you click on the photo to the right, above, you can see some pictures with Nikki.
After that, we decided to head back to the hotel. We got such a late start trying to figure out where to go that we didn’t get to do much four wheeling. No big deal as I’m sure we’ll get to do some more in Utah and Arizona.
When we got back to the hotel, we took Zaiden swimming. He HATED it. I couldn’t believe how much he disliked it since he loves taking baths so much. We tried a few different ways to get him into the pool but he wasn’t having it. We mosied back to our room and ordered pizza.
