Washington DC - Conference, More Site Seeing
Today, we decided to do something a little different. We took him to the restaurant with us, got a high chair, and fed him at the table. He got to eat breakfast with us. Big Boy! From there, we came back to the room where Nikki got ready for her presentation. Zaiden and I walked her to the conference. He and I came back to the hotel room to hang out while we waited for Nikki. We played around on the bed until he started to get fussy. He was awfully tired by that point so I put him in his car seat and did “the daddy swing” until he fell asleep. He stayed asleep while I got some blogging done (and you thought I was writing this as things went along? :). Nikki got back, we packed up, and headed for the Air and Space Museum! Woot woot! (I was secretly happy that Zaiden slept so he would be awake for pictures, today!)
We mosied around the Air and Space Museum for a couple hours and really enjoyed it. Nikki put Zaiden in the Snugli for until he started to get sleepy (again — sheesh!). In the museum, I was so excited to see they have (part of) the ENIAC! The first computer! It was used in WWII to calculate artillery ranges and such. What’s even better is they have it in front of statues of none other than R2D2 and C3PO! WAY COOL! (Oh boy am I a nerd …)
We went back tot he hotel after the museum closed. Zaiden was getting hungry which means he was getting fussy. He would only calm down if Nikki picked him up and carried him, but it was windy and cold. We bundled him up in a blanket and a warm hat as best we could and marched back. Along the way we decided it was just too chilly for him and we put him back in his stroller to shield him from the wind.
From there, we dropped by the hotel swimming pool to take Zaiden swimming. He hasn’t been swimming since we were in Tulsa. I hopped in the pool and held him long enough for Nikki to take a picture or two, but he just wasn’t very happy. I think the pool was too cold for him despite the guy telling us that it was around 86 degrees.
After 10 minutes at the pool (not exaggerating, there), we went back to the room where Zaiden has his first bath in a big-boy tub … with daddy! You can thank me later for not posting pictures of this ordeal (and not even letting Nikki take such photos).
