Camping August, 2007
We went camping with mom, dad, Paul, and Marlin over the weekend in Buena Vista. Here is a recap of the trip. Clicking on any of the pictures will take you to a gallery of photos we took during the trip. Throughout the weekend, everyone was so happy to see Zaiden, talk to Zaiden, and play with him. He was so cute with everyone — all smiles.
Day One: Thursday August 16, 2007
Nikki and I had gotten mostly packed on Wednesday night. I just took a long lunch to try to finish things up. I was hoping to get all packed and showered up before heading out. Unfortunately, packing took longer than I expected and I had to shower after nikki got home. We got Moose in the FJ and took off around 4:30. Before hitting the road, we went to pick up Zaiden from day care (Nikki had a metting in Thornton, that day, and decided to come home after the meeting rather than going to pick him up, first). Luckily, he had eaten fairly recently and we were thinking we could make it to Buena Vista before he needed to eat again. Quick stop for gas and we were on our way.
The drive was pretty uneventful. Slight slowdown at 285 and C-470 and just past Conifer for construction. That was about it. We made it to Buena Vista about 8:15-ish.
We found the campground that mom ‘n dad had made reservations for. It was about 2 miles North of the stop light in Buena Vista. It was pretty nice but was more for the RV-crowd (which would include mom ‘n dad!). We were kinda out of place when setting up our tent.
Speaking of setting up the tent — we were in the middle of a down pour when we did it! Nikki was feeding Zaiden in the car while dad gave me a hand setting up our MAMMOTH tent. We didn’t get it up quick enough and ended up with quite a lot of water on the floor of the tent. Luckily, dad had some rags he wasn’t so attached to and I dried it up as best I could before setting up our bedding.
After all that, mom had a nice dinner in their trailer. We had “Mexican Dish” — rather humorous name considering Nikki is of Mexican descent and she once asked mom, “What is it? Burritos? Enchiladas?” Mom looked at her like a deer in head lights for a second before saying, “It’s Mexican Dish.”
After a late, fulfilling dinner, we all hit the sack.
