Father’s Day
Today was a GREAT first father’s day! Nikki’s dad came down from Longmont to meet the boy and brought us a little bouncy chair for him. It’s pretty cool. AJ and the girls came by, too, and we all celebrated father’s day in style by eating lunch at … Sonic! Fancy fancy! They all headed home after that.
Then Nikki and I got the boy and the dog in DitR and we headed up to Georgetown to hit a trail in the FJ (finally!). When we got to Georgetown, Zaiden was hungry and fussy so we parked it by the lake. Nikki hopped in back to feed the boy and Moose got out to run around. He had a blast and he actually got in the water! As long as it’s not rain or sprinklers Moose isn’t afraid of water! I took him for a quick walk then the four of us just sat by the lake and relaxed for a while.
Then it was time to hit the trail! My book described it as “bone jarring.” I should have taken that a little more seriously because Zaiden’s little head was flopping back and forth like a fish — or it would have been if Nikki wasn’t sitting in back holding it still. We decided it was a little to much of a risk and called it quits after about 1/2 a mile. Not getting to finish the trail was a little disappointing but I know I’ll have plenty of time for off roading once Zaiden’s neck muscles strenghten up.
On our way home Nikki and I picked up a pizza from Anthony’s. Best NY style pizza in Denver! Yum!
Wonderful first father’s day. Got to spend time with Nikki and the boy … relaxing … got to see some family … got a touch of wheeling … got to go to the mountains. About the only bad thing is that I found out the batteries in the camera were dead after we got to Georgetown; thus, no pictures for this entry. Bummer!
